After being forced to walk away from my dream farm in 2023, I could have decided to quit farming. I lost the majority of my in-ground inventory for flowers, my entire duck flock of over 40 birds, greenhouse, animals, home, and residence where I started two companies. It clearly wasn’t my decision to leave all of that behind. Instead of quitting, I decided to persevere on my own again. It is heartbreaking and expensive to rebuy equipment, tools, and inventory that I once had so easily. I didn't want to throw myself a pity party, so instead I quietly launched a dinner series called “Dinner in the Garden” to raise money and showcase some of my friends each month that had cool, new winery projects. I also thought it would be fun to allow people to directly sponsor different projects around the farm. It took me awhile to see that it is a blessing to start over. I can really start from the ground up and build a good foundation while figuring out what truly makes me happy and what is most profitable and efficient.

My goal is to rebuild a sustainable and regenerative farm. Focusing on my three favorite things - bees, ducks, and flowers. There are most assuredly lots of side projects that go into such a simple sounding plan. This year I was accepted as a part of a grant project with Utopian Seed Project based in Western NC. We will be focusing on breeding seeds specifically adapted to our growing regions and micro climates. I got to choose my crop and am so excited to say they are these beautiful little cowpeas called "Promiscuous Pea." The grant project runs for 2 consecutive years and one of my 50' bed rows will be dedicated solely to them.

Every dollar helps greatly with the revitalizing process.
